Felipe Vilá

Mr. Felipe Vilá is the CEO of Corporación Mexicana de Inversiones de Capital, S.A. de C.V. also known as “Fondo de Fondos”, a corporation established by NAFIN, BANOBRAS, BANCOMEXT and FOCIR, four development banks in Mexico. The Corporation has committed US 530 million  in 46 Private Equity / Venture Capital Funds that have promoted more than 200 SMEs and SPVs in Latin America with special focus in México.

The investments performed by the Corporation in the Funds are accompanied by the main Institutional International Investors, so the operations of the Corporation have an important multiplier effect that is beneficial for the development of the country creating enterprises, products, services and employment.

Mr. Vilá has over 19 years of M&A, privatization and markets experience. He has directed advisory teams for middle and large national and international consortiums participating in bids to grant concessions in thermoelectric, toll roads, ports, wastewater, potable water, and other infrastructure projects. These teams provided advisory during bid processes, as well as debt and equity financing, and debt restructuring. Mr. Vilá has also lead teams that privatized over 100 companies owned and sold by the Federal Government. He has participated in more than 20 acquisitions of companies in Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela, and the sale of shares of several companies in Mexico.

Before Joining to Fondo de Fondos Mr Vilá was Managing Director of Investment Banking Advisory in Mexico, and CEO of HSBC Securities (Mexico). Previously, he served as Director of Project Finance. He worked for HSBC (BITAL) since 1993.

Previous Positions: Director of Project Finance, Fonlyser, Banca Serfin,General Director of Economic Analysis, Presidency of the Republic of Mexico.  General Director of CESTUR, which is a think-tank of the Ministry of Tourism. Deputy Director on INEGI, where he developed the methodology to estimate quarterly GDP for Mexico.

Mr. Vilá holds a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, a MBA and a B. S. in Economics (honors) from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.
